Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between carbon steel and stainless steel fittings?
Carbon steel (GB20#/35#/45# -- ASTM 1020/1035/1045) offers excellent strength, machinability, and cost-effectiveness for standard hydraulic applications. It is suitable for mineral oil systems with proper surface treatment. Stainless steel (SS304/SS316) provides superior corrosion resistance for water-based fluids, chemical exposure, marine, and food/pharmaceutical environments. SS316 adds molybdenum for enhanced resistance to chloride-induced pitting. Choose stainless when fluid media or environmental exposure would degrade carbon steel coatings.
What does "weld-free, one-piece blank" mean and why does it matter?
Our fittings are machined from solid electric furnace steel billets -- no welding, no joining, no seams. Weld seams are a primary failure point in hydraulic fittings because they introduce micro-cracks, heat-affected zones, and inconsistent grain structure. Under high-pressure cyclic loading, these become crack initiation sites leading to blow-off or burst failures. One-piece construction guarantees uniform material properties throughout, directly supporting our 100% no-leak, no-crack, no-burst assurance.
How do I choose between CR3+ zinc plating and zinc-nickel coating?
CR3+ zinc plating with sealant provides 96+ hours salt spray resistance per ISO 9227 -- suitable for indoor, controlled, and mild outdoor environments (construction equipment, machine tools). Zinc-nickel alloy coating delivers 700+ hours salt spray resistance, making it the correct choice for harsh corrosive environments: agricultural machinery exposed to fertilizers and moisture, coastal equipment, mining, and offshore applications. If your application involves frequent washdown, chemical splash, or sustained humidity, specify zinc-nickel.
What thread standards do you support and how do I specify them?
We manufacture fittings to all major international thread standards: BSP/BSPP (ISO 228), BSPT (ISO 7), NPT/NPTF (ASME B1.20.1), JIC 37° flare (SAE J514), SAE O-ring face seal (ORFS, SAE J1453), and Metric DIN/ISO. To specify correctly, provide: thread form (e.g., BSP), nominal size (e.g., 1/2"), end configuration (male/female), and sealing method (thread seal, O-ring, or face seal). Our thread standards reference guide -- available for download -- includes a complete cross-reference table.
What certifications does Liberfitting hold?
Liberfitting holds ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification, CE Declaration of Conformity for applicable product ranges, and TUV assessment certification. SGS third-party test reports are available for material composition, dimensional accuracy, and salt spray performance. Full certificate documentation is available for download from our resource library -- ideal for supplier qualification audits and approved vendor list submissions.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for standard and custom fittings?
Standard catalog fittings have flexible MOQs designed for hose assembly shops and distributors -- contact us for current stock availability and small-batch pricing. Custom OEM/ODM fittings manufactured to customer drawings or samples typically require a minimum of 500-1,000 pieces per SKU depending on complexity, with sample runs available prior to mass production. We support multi-SKU mixed orders to help distributors maintain broad inventory without punitive minimums on individual items.
How do you ensure batch-to-batch consistency and traceability?
Our quality system includes raw material traceability from electric furnace steel mill certificates through to finished goods lot numbers. In-process quality control involves operator self-inspection, supervisor patrol inspection, and automated camera dimensional verification. Finished goods undergo statistical sampling inspection. Each production batch is assigned a unique lot code enabling full traceability. For oil & gas and major OEM customers requiring third-party audit support, we provide complete documentation packages including material certs, dimensional reports, and surface treatment test records.
What is your warranty policy?
Liberfitting provides a 14-month warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions. This warranty covers premature failure due to manufacturing defects, material non-conformance, or dimensional errors relative to agreed specifications. It does not cover damage from improper installation, operating beyond rated pressure, incompatible fluid media, or unauthorized modification. Warranty claims are supported by our lot traceability system to facilitate rapid root-cause analysis and replacement.
