Electric Furnace Steel Process Flow
From raw charge to finished weld-free blank -- every stage is engineered to eliminate structural weaknesses before they form.
Raw Material
Selection
High-purity steel scrap and alloy additives are graded and verified. Only certified-grade charge enters the furnace -- no recycled unknowns.
Electric Furnace
Smelting
Precisely controlled electric arc furnace melts charge to exact temperature. Slag removal and deoxidation eliminate sulfur, phosphorus, and dissolved gases that cause micro-cracks.
Continuous Casting
& Forming
Molten steel is continuously cast into bar stock with uniform grain structure. Hot/cold forging produces near-net-shape blanks -- all from a single, unbroken piece of metal.
A single-piece, homogeneous blank with no weld seams, no heat-affected zones, and no structural discontinuities -- the foundation of every Liberfitting component.
Welded Blank vs. Weld-Free Blank
In high-pressure hydraulic circuits, the blank manufacturing method is the single greatest determinant of long-term reliability. The difference is structural.
Weld joints are the weakest point in the structure. Under cyclic pressure loading, fatigue cracks initiate at the fusion line and propagate rapidly.
Thermal cycling during welding alters grain structure in the HAZ, creating brittle regions with reduced impact toughness and corrosion resistance.
Welding introduces gas porosity and slag inclusions -- invisible defects that act as stress concentrators under hydraulic pressure pulses.
Micro-cracks in weld zones are often invisible to surface inspection. They grow silently under pressure until catastrophic blow-off or burst failure.
Single-piece blank has no seam, no fusion line, no joint -- the entire fitting is one continuous metal structure with uniform mechanical properties throughout.
Electric furnace smelting removes dissolved gases and inclusions before forming. There is no mechanism for crack initiation -- not suppressed, but structurally absent.
Uniform grain structure distributes stress evenly across the full cross-section. No stress concentration points -- rated for high-pressure cyclic loading without fatigue.
Every blank is traceable to its source heat number. Material certificates document chemical composition, mechanical properties, and furnace batch -- auditable at any point.
| Risk Factor | Welded Blank | Liberfitting Weld-Free |

| Heat-affected zone (HAZ) | ||
| Micro-crack risk | HIGH | ZERO |
| Gas porosity / inclusions | POSSIBLE | ELIMINATED |
| High-pressure burst resistance | LIMITED | MAXIMUM |
| Material traceability | PARTIAL | FULL HEAT |
| Cyclic fatigue life | REDUCED | EXTENDED |
Material Grade Cross-Reference
All grades sourced from certified electric furnace steel. Full GB ↔ ASTM cross-reference for global OEM specification matching.
General hydraulic fittings, hose couplings, ferrules. Ideal for medium-pressure applications where formability and cost efficiency are priorities.
High-pressure hydraulic adapters, heavy equipment fittings. Higher carbon delivers superior strength for demanding cyclic pressure and shock loading.
Food processing, agricultural machinery, light industrial. Excellent general corrosion resistance with good formability for precision compact fittings.
Oil & gas, offshore, marine, chemical processing. Molybdenum addition provides critical resistance to chloride pitting -- the standard for extreme corrosion environments.
Intermediate carbon steel offering a balance between the formability of GB20# and the strength of GB45#. Suitable for medium-pressure fittings requiring enhanced machinability with moderate strength gains.
High-Pressure Integrity &
Micro-Crack Elimination
Engineering principles behind why weld-free electric furnace steel blanks outperform under real-world hydraulic operating conditions.
Uniform Stress Distribution
In a welded fitting, the weld seam acts as a stress riser -- internal hydraulic pressure concentrates at the structural discontinuity. Cyclic pressure pulses accelerate fatigue crack growth from this point outward, eventually causing blow-off or burst failure.
In a weld-free blank, the homogeneous grain structure distributes stress uniformly across the entire cross-section. There is no weak point, no stress concentration -- the fitting resists pressure as a unified structural member.
Micro-Crack Elimination Mechanism
Micro-cracks originate from dissolved hydrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus in the steel melt -- these form voids and inclusions during solidification. In conventional steel, these defects are present at the microscopic level before any machining begins.
The electric arc furnace process precisely controls melt chemistry: slag removal extracts sulfur and phosphorus; vacuum degassing removes dissolved hydrogen. The resulting blank is structurally clean -- micro-crack formation is prevented at the metallurgical source, not detected after the fact.

Quality Inspection &
Traceability System
A multi-layer inspection protocol with full heat-number traceability -- from raw charge to finished fitting, every batch is documented and auditable.
In-Process Self-Inspection
Each operator performs dimensional and surface checks at their station using calibrated gauges. First-article inspection on every setup change -- deviations are caught before they propagate through the batch.
Supervisor Patrol Inspection
Each of the 5 dedicated workshops is managed by an experienced supervisor who conducts roving inspections throughout the production shift. Independent verification layer above operator self-checks.
Automated Camera Inspection
Automated vision systems perform high-resolution dimensional scanning on finished goods. Machine-objective measurement eliminates human visual fatigue errors -- sub-millimeter accuracy across 100% of critical dimensions.
Heat Number & Batch Marking
Every production batch is assigned a unique heat number linking back to the electric furnace melt. This creates an unbroken chain of custody from raw material to shipped fitting -- critical for oil & gas, offshore, and major OEM audit requirements.
